"We don't have to do all of it alone. We were never meant to."
Brené Brown
My Therapeutic Approach
I believe that everyone has an innate ability to make desired changes in their lives. Sometimes, that ability can become obscured or hindered by trauma, anxiety, or stress. I am here to help you rediscover that ability, move through your pain, and walk alongside you on your path of self-healing. In session, I strive to cultivate a collaborative therapeutic relationship where you feel supported, accepted, and safe. I use evidence-based compassionate, mindful, systemic, and emotion-focused approaches to promote self-discovery and an understanding of emotions and the mind-body connection.

What Can I Help You With?
Issues and Specialities
Anxiety/Stress
Anxiety and stress can manifest in different ways including, but not limited to, racing or spiralling thoughts, feeling out of control, increased heart and breathing rate, sweating, nausea, and upset stomach. When we feel anxiety and stress, it is common to get caught up in our thoughts and feelings and/or ignore or numb our thoughts and feelings.
Trauma
Trauma is our biological and emotional response to terrible events that happen outside of our control. These responses can include psychological symptoms such as nightmares, flashbacks, feeling unsafe or uneasy, shock, denial, depersonalization, unpredictable emotions, and strained relationships with others. Physical responses can include headaches and nausea.
Self Esteem/Self Image
Self esteem and self image encapsulate how we perceive ourselves. Our self esteem and self image can be affected by bullying, social media, previous trauma, and attachment issues, among other experiences.
Emotional Regulation
Many people struggle with emotions that feel "out of control" or "overwhelming." The goals of emotional regulation are to learn how to be in tune with our emotions, understand our emotions, and express our emotions in a helpful and meaningful way.
Attachment Issues
Our attachment style(s) are usually determined by our relationships with our parents/guardians or other significant adult figures in our lives, particularly when we are children. Our attachment styles can be mirrored in current relationships, which can cause distress for you, your partner and the relationship.
Life Transitions
Any change that we experience in our lives can bring up difficult or painful feelings, even if the change is for the better. It can be helpful to process the various emotions that accompany life transitions.
Depression
Depression can manifest in different ways including, but not limited to, low mood, low sex drive, increased or decreased appetite, increased or decreased sleep, suicidal ideation, and isolation. When we feel depressed, it is common to feel hopeless and ruminate about how low we feel.
Suicidal Ideation/Self-Harm
Suicidal ideation and self-harm can be sources of comfort when we struggle with any of the mental health issues listed above. If you are struggling with thoughts of suicide or self-harm, please know that you are not alone and I am here to help. If you are in crisis, please reach out to one of the following resources for immediate assistance: Call 911, go to your nearest emergency room, or visit Talk Suicide Canada.
